Many years ago, God asked me this question: “Can You Fit Into Your Wedding Gown?”
He wasn’t talking about my earthly gown, but our spiritual one as the Bride of Christ.
I’ve spent many years seeking Him and writing. I would tuck the writings into files and sketch illustrations for each chapter. But the book had never come to fruition, until now.
In January of this year, I asked the Lord if He had a deadline for the book. The next day, my husband, Keith, said unexpectedly, “I see you finishing your book by your birthday.”
I was taken aback. That was only six weeks away! Then I remembered that I had asked the Lord for a deadline. He had given me the answer through my husband.
Sigh… God is such a good Father.
Thus began the journey of getting this book finished.
I began creating digital illustrations for the chapters. I also spoke with my dear friend Carmelitta Greco, who owns the faith-based art gallery LUZ ART, about exhibiting the illustrations as paintings. She was excited to set dates for a summer exhibit, so I began the paintings as well.
This all sounds simple, but it has not been. It has, however, been a very sacred season. I ponder God’s goodness in the midst of this assignment.
The dates were set for the New York gallery. God provided, as He always does, and we went to release His message through art in New York. And that is what we did.
The gallery is in a building that houses many other galleries, so there is plenty of foot traffic. We got to share the gospel with many people. Before the trip, we made linen prayer cloths to give out as we prayed for people.
I have to give my husband credit here. I could not have done any of this without him. He helped me bring the vision to fruition. I had dreams of painting on linen as scrolls, so that’s what we did.
I was even honored to feature my mother’s wedding gown and pillbox hat from the 1960’s! My parents story was woven into the beginning of the exhibit and was a favorite component for all.
It was amazing!
Now, Can You Fit Into Your Wedding Gown? is released in paperback, with other formats to follow. The original art will travel with us as we share this message with the Bride.
Through the Saying Yes to the Eternal Dress Collection, we are offering small, gold-framed prints of the originals for those who have a favorite chapter to remember. Our linen cloths can be used in many ways: as gift wrap, headwear, or a prayer cloth to pass on.
It’s been an amazing season of sharing God’s message to awaken His Bride. And it’s only just begun!
I hope this encourages you in your journey with Christ.
Blessings,
Kathryn
